I found a dowel that fit inside the tube. I cut a 3" length and used tape to secure it in place in the connection of both ends of the tube. This kept the connection straight, otherwise it would too easily bend at that point.

The Ribs
The ribs are constructed out of 1/2" drip irrigation tube. Using simple math, I was able to take all my diameters and convert them into circumferences so I could easily cut each of the ribs to length.
